Where Have I Been?

I didn't realize that it had been two months since updating my blog! Here's a recap...

Taylor was a ladybug for Halloween

Ty and I left Taylor behind with Nanna and Pappa in Dallas so we could go on a cruise with his family over Thanksgiving week. We had a great time, we were glad that Taylor was in good hands, but we sure did miss her. The first two days I left her were hard, I cried a lot and I felt really guilty leaving her. But Ty and I enjoyed our time together. We didn't realize how much we don't see each other until we spent a whole week together. Our stops were Honduras, Beliz, Cozumel and Costa Maya.

Lastly, Ty is done with school!! He has one more final and will never have to go back to school! He may go back for some extra licenses he can get, but he has his four year degree. We are proud of him.

Finally!!!

On September 28th we finalized Taylor's adoption. That was a really fun day. I didn't think I would get emotional, but I did. I was doing pretty good until the lawyer made me and Tyler both state and promise that we would love Taylor forever and ever. That last part kind of got me! Here is off after the court hearing. Taylor was extremely tired!

Then, on October 9th Taylor was sealed to Tyler and I. That was really special and really neat. There was such a sweet spirit in the room, nothing like I had ever felt before. The spirit was so strong to me and I couldn't help but cry the whole time. It was so neat. The sealer talked to us a bit and was saying how not very many people have the opportunity to be able to bring their kids to the temple and have them sealed to them. It went on and said how Taylor was sealed to us as if she had been born to Tyler and I.

On October 10th she was blessed in church. The whole weekend was a blur and by the time our church meeting rolled around, I was so tired and out of it. But, I did pay attention to Taylor's blessing. Tyler did a great job. Two of the things that stuck out most to me were how he mentioned that she would continue to be an example of optimism and hope and second, that she would understand and appreciate the special way she came to this earth. ;-)

Here is Taylor before church:

I love Taylor more than I ever thought was possible and I'm so glad she is all ours. She has brought me so much happiness and joy, I don't know what I did without her! I told my mom on the day of the sealing after being a cry baby, "now I know why we go through trials, or at least one of the reasons, and that is so we can experience this much joy and happiness".

Not that I didn't feel like Taylor's mom until she was sealed to us, I definitely was her mom already, but it was the last piece of the puzzle that we needed. It was just a great day.

Why oh Why???

..do moms have to get sick. I caught a stomach bug and lets just say it's not fun! All I want to do is go in a dark, cold room and sleep for hours! I will just nap when Taylor is...... she isn't being difficult, just a 6 month old who I can't leave unsupervised. I hope this passes soon!

6 Month Check-Up

Taylor had her sixth month check-up today. She is sleeping so well in her crib right now, because of the shots. Poor girl.

She weighs 11 lbs 1. oz. And is 23 inches long. All along the Pediatrician has told me that we will compare Taylor two months behind since she was two months early. So, since it was her 6 month check-up, they compare her to a 4 month old. Today, she was where a 3 month old would be at as far as weight and height. SHe isn't even on the charts! 0 percentile!! Her motor skills are fine, she is developing fine, her weight is proportion with her length, but she is still small. We are going to check her weight again at 9 months and go from there. The dr may decide to do testing between 9 months and 12 months depending on her weight gain.

My pediatrician also made me feel good about Taylor's sleeping habits at night. I've always thought Taylor has done a great job with sleeping at night considering she is so small. However, I think we as mom's anticipate that special night when we can put our babies down to sleep and not hear a peep out of them until morning. I think when that doesn't happen, we second guess ourselves and what we are doing. I have been anyways. I have been debating on the cry it out method and even tried it a couple of nights. I've ended up getting her to sleep by rocking her or picking her up briefly. I trust my doctor's opinion. I asked her if I should let Taylor "cry it out" at night. She quickly said no way!!! The Dr. told me if Taylor was the "normal" 6 month old, she'd lecture me on letting her get to sleep on her own, don't go in in the middle of the night if she wakes up, etc, etc. But she told me not to do that until Taylor weighs about 14 - 15 lbs. (I instantly thought, "Taylor will be two before that happens!) She kept stressing to me she is fine, etc, but at the same time, not the normal 6 month old because of her weight. The Dr. made me feel so much better about the fact that its okay Taylor wakes up halfway in the night and needs me to put her pacifier back in to get her to sleep.

The Dr told me to no longer let her go more than 6 hours without eating at night. She needs those calories! She normally does anywhere from 6-8 at night. But I need to be more strict and feed her every 6 hours. That's fine with me.

As far as baby food, I can give her rice, veggies and even try oatmeal if I want. But I can't give her too much of it. The Dr told me that Taylor gets most of her calories from her formula. So, she can't be getting so full off baby food that she won't take a bottle. So as I feed her and try to give her baby food and she stops taking her bottles, then I need to stop the baby food and do only bottles.

All in all, bottom line.... I love my little peanut! My one sister calls her a "puffle". A puffle is from that online penguin game. A puffle is a big, little person. Haha.

Here is what I learned today:

*I have no clue how people did it back in the day without Dr's. I sure do love ours and she makes me feel better about everything.
*I'm learning that it really doesn't matter either...in that every baby is different. ESPECIALLY PREEMIES! ;-)
*And I need to just let it go...sleep that is... I need to deal with getting 6 hours of sleep and just know I will always be tired.
*My dr told me that the "Baby Wise" Book works for one child, but not the other. There is no such thing as one book that works for every baby. So when the time comes and Taylor can go more than 6 hours in the night, it will be trial and error.

Busy Busy Sunflower!!

Taylor is just so much fun to be around. ;-) I love her more than anything in the world (other than Ty of course). I can't believe she will be 6 months next week! Crazy. I get sad at how fast time goes by, but its fun to see her. I think the age she is at right now is so much fun to watch. She has recently discovered she has a voice. She laughs more, giggles more, makes noises, blows bubbles, and does all those cute baby noises.

Play is a lot of work.... she fell asleep while on her blanket one day. She is pretty good about falling asleep on her own... I just have to lay her down, give her her blanket, pacifier and turn her music on. I feel that it is a huge accomplishment now that she can put herself to sleep. We still have our bad days, but who doesn't?

I still often think about the young girl who blessed our lives with Taylor. I don't know what I would do without Taylor in my life. She was no doubt intended for our family. It has been a blast watching her personality unfold... she is a lot like me! She doesn't get mad often, but when she does.. everyone knows it! :-)

Sold!

We sold our house..we have to be out by September 21st. Crazy. Sometimes I think we are crazy for wanting to flip another house, while Ty is in school, working and now we have a baby. Oh well. We had a lot of fun doing our first house together. I'm excited to get to do another!

Now we just need a house......

Colorado Vacation.... When Are we Going Back???

I'm already looking forward to next summer. I love going in the summer, I just wish Ty could have gone. Next year he can though! I loved it and loved the cooling weather. I didn't do much because I had Taylor. One day my mom took her so I could get a pedicure. It was so nice. I enjoyed relaxing and walking around.

Here are a few pictures..

Why I Love Her

I have many reasons why I love Taylor. First and foremost, she is my daughter! Of course I love her. I love that I have a friend to go shopping with during the day. For now its good because she doesn't have tantrums. ;-) I love her when she smiles at me. I even love it when sometimes I am the only one who can calm her down. It reminds me that she needs me. I love how sweet and perfect her spirit is still. Having a child in my home has reminded me that I used to once be so sweet and perfect. Then, I got older and with age comes choices, responsibility and we can no longer be perfect, but at least try. Seeing her and being with her during the day wants me to try a little harder.

I love that in about 2 1/2 months we will be taking her to the temple to be sealed to her and that to me is amazing! I can't wait for that day. Life is too hard and unfair sometimes and I can't imagine getting to the other side and not having a forever family. All this hard work at least makes it worth it.

I am not sure if its because Taylor is still somewhat new, but I still find myself fighting back tears when she laughs or smiles or when I'm rocking her to sleep. I still also find myself asking what did I do to get so lucky and be so blessed? :-) I have had all these great feelings come over me and I think its because we are getting closer and closer to going to the Temple with her. I can't imagine having any other child in our home right now.

I'm so in love with this little girl...

Happy 4th of July!

I never get pictures of Tyler and I anymore, its all about Taylor. ;-) Here are some cute pictures of her from Sunday.

Ready for church...

After church in her casual outfit... don't make fun of me! A girl can never have too many clothes!

And Waiting for it to get dark so she can watch fireworks...she was so excited, can't you tell?

Happy Father's Day!

I know this is a little late. But I wanted to wish a Happy Father's Day to my dad and Ty. They are the two men in my life who have influenced me for the better and are both great men. My dad is a dad to 5 girls and 1 boy. Good grief! He was outnumbered. We have so many great memories of us growing up and I just love him.

And to Ty. He has been there for me and is such a great support and friend. He doesn't have too be asked to help out, if he sees I need help, he helps. He just loves Taylor and is so good with her. Him and I both feel blessed to have her in our lives.

Here is Dad and his most recent pics with his daughter...

Lastly, I just want to say how grateful I am for the process we had to go through to get Taylor. We did IVF twice and did not get good news with either one. I found this picture today and he brought back the memories of going through IVF. We were both scared in this picture and I was really nervous! I look back on all that and realize it was nothing and probably not the hardest thing in life that I could have been dealt.

Plus, this is what Tyler and I got in the end and she was worth the wait!

Home for Sale....

Yup .That's right. As if we don't have enough going on, like a new baby, Ty in school and working full time, we are listing our house for sale by the end of the week. We are staying in San Antonio and buying another fixer upper. I have mixed feelings about doing another flip. I have had so many firsts in this house... it was our first house and we brought home our first child to this home. There are other firsts, but I can't think of them right now. ;-) I know in the end, this is a good thing to do because the ultimate goal is to make money off of these houses. By the time Ty graduates in December from College, he will start looking for jobs and hopefully shortly after the first of the year, he will have something lined up. Depending on where he gets a job, we will look for another house that we can stay in longer than a couple of years.

Its sad to leave this house because it was our first, but also because we put so much work into it...and the thought of starting over.... oh dear! But it is fun believe it or not. I'm already looking forward to different things we will do in the next house.

So here are the before's and after's of this house...

Where does Time Go....

Who knows the answer to that question? I was almost certain my days would last longer when I wasn't working because I would probably get bored at home. Boy was I wrong. There is more to do now that I'm home, especially with Taylor. There is always something, but its fun.

My social worker came by for our home visit a few weeks ago. We will have two more of these before we finalize our adoption with Taylor. She got a baby a few weeks after us. Her and her husband had their adoption papers in. I was so excited for them when she emailed me and told me. I told her she could only come for a visit if she brought her baby!!

My best friend Brittani and her husband Jason came to visit me and Tyler over memorial day weekend. We had fun with them. She is also pregnant and due around Thanksgiving. Our other best friend, Chelsea is pregnant and is due in October. The three of us were always together and still keep in touch. It is fun and funny at the same time, we will all have babies within a year of each other!

I left Sunday to go to Houston and stayed until Monday. On Monday,I drove to Dallas. It was a fun visit with the Cryer and McGurrin Family and also my parents. I was able to stay with my parents the whole week.

Taylor's First Swim .....

Chelsea came to see us in Dallas..... and I didn't get any pictures with my parents. Stupid me. But here is one of Chelsea and me and also Taylor's smile. I just love her smiles. She is starting to do it more now!

Growing....Growing .....

Taylor is up to about 8 lbs now. A week and a half ago, she was 7.12. So I am assuming she is at least 8 lbs now. I can't believe she is almost two months old.

Here are some of my favorite outfits she can finally fit into (and some of these are still newborn sizes!)

Her first bath in her big girl tub

She loves leaning up in the boppy pillow and also her bouncy seat and laying on her blanket.
